With a bag of Chocolate Chip Cookies, he had my heart!
Even if they were a little burnt...
Our first date was at the White Water Center in Charlotte. As we got settled into our chairs by the water to listen to music, Chauncey pulled a bag of chocolate chip cookies out of his pocket and I knew in that moment that he would be getting another date! Over beer and cookies, we sat by the water and talked until we were the last ones in the park. We stayed well after the band had packed up and left! Our love for both sports and teaching, left us with endless topics to discuss.
After a summer filled with fun dates and adventures, the true test of the relationship would be our first wrestling season together. Chauncey travels several nights week for meets and tournaments from November to March. While our adventures and date nights slowed down, our Facetime minutes grew exponentially. We spent our evenings discussing take downs and tournament wins and losses. This was an especially trying time for me, as I had to learn how to feed myself again after being spoiled by Chauncey's chef level meals! I put my best foot forward, some recipes were a hit, and others led us to going to get Mexican for dinner instead! As wrestling season came to a end, and I was still around, he knew this was something real. Surviving wrestling season isn't for the faint of heart!
Fast Forward 2 years later, we find ourselves back at the White Water Center, spending the afternoon with friends enjoying a few beers and listening to music. Little did I know that the evening had more in store for me! To my surprise, my sister and brother in law show up to join us. While very confused and interrogating them with a million questions as to why they were there, Chauncey was patiently down on one knee waiting for me to turn around. He may have been at a loss for words when I turned around, but we were both filled with love and joy to make the decision to spend the rest of our lives together!
We are so excited to celebrate with you in Mexico and we can't thank you enough for joining us for our big day!
